Hey there!

I’m Lisa and I’m 23 years old. I live in Rome and now, I’m the first student staying at the Fortuny’s Inn! It’s so cool!!

I can’t believe they chose me as the first person working here out on a lot of participants.

And after me there’ll be other 5 guys/girls working here for this competition!! That’s so amazing!

I’m really happy I got this opportunity!

Tomorrow I’ll start to work with all the fabrics to have a coherent idea about what to do and what to design to win this competition!

Hope you’ll follow me during this adventure!!

People love Carnival, and people mostly love Venice for her GORGEOUS Carnival Party!

Every year we can be part of it thanks to the news on Tv, or by reading articles on the magazines or also by doing the crazy choice of going and be there personally!

It’s so beautiful to see how these people are so attached to their costumes and traditions, and to see how these masks give happiness and joyful feelings.

The city transforms into a Medieval Town and all its colors and architectures become part of a perfect scenography in which everyone is playing a part.

People forget all their matters, jobs, duties and party all together .

For a short time they become part of a past memory that will never die, and that every year is brought back to life.

How great could be having a seat in a wonderful Caffè in a beautiful Italian piazza, as Piazza San Marco in Venice!

Gorgeous view, historical contacts, traditional feelings!

Everything is matching perfectly with artistic operas, artistic minds… innovative ideas!

Which could be the perfect place where you can find all this characteristics…?

The Florian’s Caffè could!

An historical, wooden and traditional Italian interior design; this place represents the old Venice of the Fortuny’s Times and even before.

It’s settled in Piazza San Marco, which is one of the most beautiful pearls of the Italian collection.

A place that was the main muse of inspiration of many artists, Italians and foreigners, from yesterday up to now…

The place where many designers, artists, collectors, and innovators could meet to melt their ideas together and find themselves involved in the most challenging competition ever settled!

We have to find the New Real Young Designer for the Fortuny Fabrics, by giving the opportunity to all the participants to be guests at the brand new Fortuny’s Inn.

We hope you will participate in huge numbers, to give us the opportunity to discover wonderful minds, and to give you the chance to have great visibility in an immediate future career.

… it was so beautiful! Elegance and sumptuousness everywhere … Those parties and dinners given at the Fortuny Palace were magnificent.

… so many faces, important people, writers, high class people… It was all perfect as in a fairy tale

Enchanting colors, shapes, forniture, the elegance made true!

I was part of all this… Memories… something that nobody can steal… something you must keep believing in, to let things remain alive in your mind.

Hope the real soul of Fortuny will be alive soon again…

Fortuny designed the Delphos dress in 1907 to wear with the Knossos veil. Each Delphos dress was constructed of 4 or 5 widths of pleated silk and finished with cords that laced at the neck and shoulders so the wearer could adjust the dress as she saw fit. The dress came with a narrow stenciled belt or braided silk cord. Fortuny ordered Murano glass beads, which were sewn along the sides and around the hem of the dresses to add weight so the dresses would cling to the body

Each Delphos dress was twisted and coiled, then stored in a round white box tied with black ribbon. Fortuny made subtle variations of the Delphos gowns for more than 30 years. Each dress was completely made by hand and each was unique.

Fortuny also designed coats and wraps adapted from traditional kimonos, saris, and other ethnic clothing. Each article of clothing was made from Fortuny’s custom made fabrics, which he printed and stenciled in his studio. And each garment was unique and one-of-a-kind.

Fortuny fabrics are known for their sumptuous feel and richly designed patterns, which are influenced by cultures around the world; from Reniassance, Byzantine, Art Nouveau, Celtic, Greek, Persian and Morrocan motifs.

Fortuny fabrics are now displayed in the Fortuny Museum in Venice. ( Palazzo Pesaro degli Orfei )
